Rest In Peace Rev. Dana Christopher Rose

I'm sad to hear of Dana's passing. He was vibrant, witty, homorous and a champion for causes and issues affecting the black LGBTQ community. And he also loved to tease me with smart-ass comments or just a toss of his dreads. :-) I first met Dana at the 2004 Adodi Retreat. He was a kind and gentle soul. I didn't know Dana as long as some of his other friends, but i knew him enough to love him and to capture him so lovingly in this photo.

I took this photo of Dana in May of 2005 in Newark, New Jersey at an Anti-Violence Rally held in honor of the slain youth Sakia Gunn. That was Dana...always there when it mattered most.

What a Gift...I met Dana at the Rowe Camp & Conference Center Annual Gay Mens Spiritual Retreat...he was a wonder to share and to listen. He love learning about community. He loved planting seeds to help community grow. He saw community as all of us. Each one a gift of gods.

Dana was a wonderfully loving soul with a wicked sense of humor. He showed immense concern for me and always wished me well in all my endeavors. I saw him at brother Larry's home this past Memorial Day weekend. I'm glad now that I went as it proved to be the last time I would see him. Thank you, Dana, for all the laughs, teaching and support you gave not only to me, but everyone you encounter. Rest easy, my friend. Rest.
