Ocean takes on SOHO, NYC!
I'm proud to be a part of the "Great Gay Photo Show" at the Leslie/Lohman Gallery in SOHO, NYC! This is my first exhibition of the year and I'll be showing two black and white male nudes as well as two photographs of black SGL couples, caught in tender moments. Maybe this will be "my year". My year to EXPLODE onto the scene and have my name up in lights! I know, I know. Wishful thinking. Sigh. In the meantime, I'll continue creating the work that I love to do and wait patiently for my name to be called. :-)

Yea, we did attend the opening and it was mad crowded! We noticed that your prints were the only African American entries which is an event in itself! We especially liked the one of the couple at the table. There's a story there. Our story. Hoepfully, it will encourage Black sgl's especially to move beyond the fluff and find identity and purpose in partnering....Thanks again, Ocean for your continued inspiring work. It is greatly appreciated!!!
I was at the opening and while I was delighted to see your work, was disappointed at the few images of people of color and the apparent absence of other non-white photographers.
And is it just me or do other gay photographers need to broaden their horizons? How many pictures of penises can you hang in one gallery, really?
I think you're right on point Bernie! That certainly was the consensus of the night---to many "dik" shots, and many of them not very well executed! This is really the curators fault for selecting works that were all too predictable and limiting. I'm glad he at least selected two images of black gay couples expressing love that were in my portfolio. I too was dismayed by the lack of diversity in this exhibition, but I was happy to be the only one or one of a few! Thanks for coming out, and sorry I didn't meet you---too many damn people!
