From the lot: Recent images, May 2009

There are times when I shoot many different subjects before cleaning of my compact flash card. Call it lazy , if you will, but I tell you, the administrative part of photography is a bytch! Files, folders, boxes, tags, keywords, copyright, arrggggh! I can never catch up! As maddening as it is, I like to review and work on the images that have captured my eye, particularly after a little time passes. Most times, I have a clearer perspective of and understanding of what my photographic intention was, but to be quite honest, sometimes I don't have clue!

In any event, posted below are a hodge-podge of images, taken over the course of a week or so. Enjoy!

I'm still feeling Santa Fe's. beauty, peace, charm, and openess. It was a remarkable city full of art and creative energy. Here are more photos of what was found and created by artisans of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Kokopelli is a fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player who has been worshipped since at least the time of the Ancient Pueblo Peoples. The first known images of him appear on Hohokam pottery dated to sometime between A.D. 750 and A.D. 850. These sculptures of Kokopelli in the photo are cut out ouf iron and displayed on the street in the Plaza section of Downtown Santa Fe. There are only two in the frame, but I like how the late afternoon sun casts a shadow behind them, making it four Kokopelli sculptures.
