Cell phone capture: Mural details, El Barrio, NYC

Cell phone photos taken in El Barrio (Spanish Harlem), New York City. Depending on where you're from, you'll view the murals and writings as "grafitti" while others will see it as "art". Whatever your demographic, these Latino artists deserve their props, especially James De la Vega!

Mural details by Artist Manny Vega.

Mural detail, Celia Cruz by james De la Vega. According to Salon.com, "De la Vega is the most revered street artist in New York".

If this was a Basquiat on or any time after August 13th, 1998 (the day after his death), this would be snatched up, but because it's De la Vega, it remains waiting to be picked up by the garbage truck...that is, until he is no longer with us. So goes it in the art world...

Puerto Rican flags (and an American one) fly high up in the sky.
