23rd annual Tribute to the Ancestors of the Middle Passage

The Tribute to the Ancestors is an annual remembrance of the tens of millions of Africans who, after being kidnapped from their homeland, died during the Middle Passage – the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean and North and South America. The tribute takes place at Coney Island, Brooklyn and is considered one of the largest of its kind.
